HISTORY OF AJNIFM

Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) is a Center of Excellence specializing in capacity building of professionals in the fields of Public Policy, Financial Management and other governance issues for promoting highest standards of professional competence and practice.

AJNIFM was set up in 1993 as a registered society under Ministry of Finance, Government of India. To begin with it was mandated to train the officers recruited by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) through the Civil Services Examination and allocated to the various services responsible for managing senior and top management posts dealing with accounts and finance in the Government of India. In due course of time AJNIFM has become a premier resource center to meet the training needs of Central Government for senior and middle level of management too. AJNIFM also caters to the State Governments, Defence establishments, Banks and other Financial Institutions.

 

VISION of AJNIFM

We, at AJNIFM, shall endeavor to develop the Institute as a "Centre of Excellence" in the area of Financial Management for Good Governance and provide a conducive environment for learning, teaching and research. We shall ensure Client's satisfaction through continuous improvement in Human Resources, methodologies and infrastructure based on the "Voice of the Client". The values of honesty, integrity, transparency and respect for human being shall always guide our efforts.

 

About ITEC

The Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) is considered to be one of the essential functions of an integrated and imaginative foreign policy of the Government of India. Training/capacity building is one of the major activities under ITEC and the professionals/people from developing countries are offered unique training courses. Under ITEC and its sister program SCAAP, 161 countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean as well as Pacific and Small Island countries are invited to share in the Indian developmental experience acquired over more than seven decades of India's existence as a free nation.

 

Though the Institute has been conducting courses under the TCS Colombo Plan since around 1999 but the data points pertaining to last five years (readily available) regarding Institution’s engagement with ITEC is as under:

Why AJNIFM should be chosen for capacity building courses

 AJNIFM is an Institution of Excellence under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. AJNIFM organizes International Training Programs to keep abreast with progress made in the rest of the world in the area of finance and accounts, particularly in Government and public sector institutions. AJNIFM has international collaborations with esteemed Foreign Universities/ Institutions: University of California (RS. US), Duke University (USA), Edinburgh Business School (Scotland,), Royal Institute of Public Administration (UK), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), Asian Institute of Management (Philippines), Civil Service College (London), Seneca College (Toronto, Canada).

AJNIFM also conducts few Programs under ITEC initiative of Ministry of External Affairs with Participation of officials from many developing countries. Besides, AJNIFM also organizes a few mid-career programs for officers of participating services with international attachments in US/UK/Canada etc.
